BirdShield Repel birds from any structure, surface or nest; repel water birds from boat docks
BirdShield biodegradable bird repellent repels birds from nesting, loafing and roosting in and upon structures, roofs, interior or exterior walls, siding, statues, bridges and other sites, including boat docks and marinas. Coupled with RejeX-it bird repellent for grass and foliage, it provides a non-toxic way of encouraging birds to migrate to other areas without harming them.
Silent, Invisible, Harmless, No Electricity
Food-grade, biodegradable bird repellent repels birds from nesting, loafing and roosting in and upon structures, roofs, interior or exterior walls, siding, statues, bridges and other sites - even nests. Also deters water birds from boat docks and marina areas.
Liquid BirdShield dries, leaving a residue with a grape-like odor. Birds' trigeminal system, similar to our sense of smell, is irritated by BirdShield's smell. It's environmentally friendly and harmless to birds.
Developed with assistance from a major university, BirdShield's active ingredient is Methyl Anthranilate (MA), a constituent of Concord grapes. MA has been used by the food and drug industry for over 40 years to flavor candy, sodas, gums, and drugs; it is listed by the US FDA as "Generally Recognized As Safe" (GRAS) and is classified by the US EPA as "reduced risk."
Life of Applied Product - Porosity and sunlight determine BirdShield's life. Up to 10 days or more on a porous surface and approximately 3 days on a non-porous or sealed surface.
Invisible Solution can't be seen or heard so it won't bother neighbors, customers or employees. Typically, birds will not return after just a few treatments - they leave for the longterm as they cannot habituate.
Usage and Coverage - Paint (full-strength) or spray (1:1 dilution with water). On a porous surface, you'll get less coverage but it will last much longer - apply liberally as product will be absorbed. For example, a gallon may cover a medium-sized rooftop. On a non-porous or sealed surface you'll get maximum coverage but must apply more often - apply lightly as excess will run. BirdShield is effective on all surfaces but as it may stain or damage certain materials (waxes, plastics, foams, insulations and glues) or finishes, we suggest testing and/or sealing.

Original tests were done in five commercial buildings in Lewiston, Idaho. All of the structures had been built between 1880 and 1920, and pigeons had been roosting in them as long as anyone could remember. Prior attempts had been made to remove the pigeons by various means, including trapping and scaring with noise, balloons, and plastic owls. None of these attempts were successful for any reasonable period of time. During these tests, three buildings were treated with a 1:1 solution applied to roosting areas with a hand pump sprayer. On the other two buildings, a similar treatment was made with water only, for comparison. Immediately before the tests, one day, three days, and thirty days after, objective tests of the bird use were made. The number of birds that perched in an area for more than 30 seconds was counted for each building. In the buildings treated with water only, this number did not change significantly over the life of the study. In stark contrast, there was no reportable bird activity observed at the treated buildings. Similar results have been observed for starlings, sparrows, and woodpeckers in other test environments, however it was sometimes necessary to re-treat two or three times in order to obtain complete control.

RejeX-it Repels Geese and Other Birds without Harming Wildlife or the Environment
Martinson-Nicholls is committed to the conservation of the environment by providing alternative, non-toxic methods for the control of damage caused by nuisance wildlife. By making grass in unwanted grazing areas unpalatable to geese and other birds, RejeX-it solves the territorial conflict between birds and humans without harming either.
RejeX-it Bird Aversion Agents have been developed from Food Grade Ingredients and were tested in cooperation with USDA's Animal Damage Control and Denver Wildlife Research Center, and meets the EPA's new criteria for "Reduced Risk."
RejeX-it is
- ecologically friendly
- non-toxic
- non-phytotoxic
- completely biodegradable.
In too many places, birds have found lawns, sports fields, parks, golf courses, and corporate settings near a lake or pond so agreeable, they cease migrating. With their fiercely territorial and aggressive behavior, geese often wear out their welcome and become a nuisance. Their feeding habits damage grass, and their unsanitary droppings pose health problems. RejeX-it represents an effective alternative to harming nuisance birds.
Sources of the active ingredients in RejeX-it products include concord grapes, neroli oil, orange, acacia and gardenia blossoms. RejeX-it adversely affects the taste of the food sources without harming the animals or treated surfaces. After as little as one application of RejeX-it, research shows birds quickly leave the treated areas for better, tastier food sources.
RejeX-it may be applied to turf areas of ponds and lakes, golf courses, sports fields, pools, airports, cemeteries, land fills, boat docks and marinas.
